USC Football: Among Pac-12's Undefeated Clubs, Insider Lukewarm On Trojans

USC is one of five undefeated Pac-12 teams

USC came into the 2023 college football season with some of the highest expectations in the country.

With the reigning Heisman winner, a top recruiting class and a coach that knows how to win, all signs were pointing towards teh Trojans having a successful season.

Through four games, USC is living up to the hype. The team is 4-0 and is beating all its opponents by an average of 35 points.

Even though USC has been dominant to start the season, writers still dont beleive in the Trojans.

So far this season, the Pac-12 has been the best conference in college football. There are currently five undefeated teams and four of them are in the AP Top Ten this week.

Jon Wilner of the Mercury News ranked the five undefeated Pac-12 teams and put USC in last of the five.

The reasoning for Wilner ranking USC last is because of the schedule.

Yes, USC has blown out San Jose State, Nevada and Stanford, but they weren't as dominant against an Arizona State who got smoked by Fresno State the week prior.

The defense has also been a problem for the eight ranked team in the nation. While they have not given up a lot of points, it is one of the only weak spots of the team.

On the bright side, Wilner mentioned that Caleb Williams is looking elite even though he had a down game against ASU.

A down game for Williams, however includes 42 offensive points scored.

As the schedule gets tougher for USC, only time will tell if Wilner is right ranking USC last out of all the undefeated Pac-12 teams.
